Lexington, Kentucky, Snowy... but that day it didn't snow and being Ugadi ( new year according to lunisolar calender), I generally wore sari and took my spouse and his friend to the temple, the bribe being free food. They preferred being outside and I proceeded to the hall. Someone was singing, melodious crystal clear voice " Aa ab Laut chale" ( Lets go back) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pcB_F3t5Qo. People out there were not noisy and to my surprise -they were all crying. Bigger surprise I was also crying. It is definitely difficult to stay away from your own country. Though you find a lot of faults in your country, it is dear. That song surely made us shed some tears that day for our country. If it is tough to live in your own country, it is tougher to live in other. Thanks to all my dear friends who made our stay worthwhile and enjoyable. Change of place, I am in the Middle Eastern part of the world now and guess what, I have a very good friend from college here, I am totally lucky. We both wore the best of the saris possible and celebrated Ugadi in style with some Lentil Rice Vadas. Good friends can make you find oasis in dessert, how true is that.
